Starting a new adventure: MONTHLY MAIL – January 2022

Welcome to my first monthly mail where I try to keep you updated with what’s happening in my world, what my plans are for the upcoming months…

AND…finally I can say I have arrived in Tenerife! About 1 month later than I had originally hoped, but now fully legal, with the right visas and paperwork! It’s not been the easiest process but I’ve been told all I should have to do for 2023 is apply for renewal so fingers crossed it’s an easy road from here!

Whilst January didn’t quite go to plan, thanks to my gym coach we could be flexible and work around the constraints meaning I’m feeling fit and strong ready to hit the ground running! I also got to spend a week in Tarifa – it was insanely windy Levante conditions so we headed north in search of less wind and some waves and found neither! It was still 3.4 conditions but best described as bump and jump – it was a shame as Canos de Meca has the potential to be an amazing location but unfortunately not on this trip. Back in Tarifa I had a fun slalom session with Vincent Langer where I got to try the new sails and they are really feeling so good – I’m very excited to get dialled into them over the next months. I also had two really fun winging sessions, landing my first raleys and air jibes – it’s so much fun to be getting back into some freestyle and learning something completely new again!

February plans…

My plan for February is go full power into TWS Slalom Training! I also have my wave gear and winging gear for the days off but my primary focus is on slalom racing and getting dialled into my new equipment. Speaking of new equipment… I’m very excited to be welcoming onboard F4 FOILS for the 2022 season. Looking at the forecast, there’s going to be plenty of opportunities to get out on the water and test different setups over the next few weeks and I’m looking forward to pushing even harder on the foil in 2022 in the new fin foil format.
